HH Meets with CSO To Discuss Social Policy

Fellow citizens,

This afternoon we held a consultative meeting with Civil Society Organizations( CSOs) drawn from various segments. We discussed a wide range of matters around the debt question, governance, Human rights, the rule of law, independence of the Judiciary, the fight against corruption, Public Finance Management and many other issues affecting our nation.

We acknowledged the importance of a regular conversation with the CSOs and reiterated our long held position that we are not in competition with them but are partners in the development of our country, and co-workers in unifying our communities.

We appreciated their views and opinions and applauded their unique diversity which we viewed as bringing in a wealth of information and expertise to government's attention.

We proposed for regular consultative processes through smaller thematic working groups that will create the necessary framework to achieve our objectives in resolving the issues that were raised today.
