HH Visits Those Hit By Flooding

Fellow citizens.

Today we visited areas that have been ravaged by floods in the Central and Southern parts of our country.

Among the areas we visited included Chiwena, an area between Landless Corner and Mumbwa of Central Province. We also checked on Nangoma, Itezhi Tezhi and Mumbwa.

Chiwena bridge was washed away, leading to uncertainties as far as daily lives are concerned. We are fully aware that these could be challenges across the country.

In Namwala's Nachumba and Bweengwa's Mbeza area, including in Magoye, it is the same situation.

However, it is gratifying to note that the government is doing everything possible to ensure that people, animals, and infrastructure are taken care of.

Following this visit, we have also learnt that we need to invest more in the engineering sector, including technology, so that both lives and infrastructure can be protected.

We are taking these movements to appreciate how challenging it is for our fellow citizens and trust us, we remain determined to ensure that these challenges are dealt with decisively.

We have also called for concerted efforts across all government wings among them Zambia Army, Zambia AirForce, Zambia National Service, Zambia Correctional Services, Zambia Police and the DMMU to ensure that disasters such as these ones are faced head-on with the utmost urgency.

We care! And let us all look out for each other when in times of trouble. Hearing stories of a mother who gave birth in a tent provided for by the DMMU after her family got displaced by floods is a strong reminder that we must all be out there for one another.

While we are facing these floods, the flip side of it for us is that we must and we should, and we will focus more on the long-lasting solutions by building quality infrastructure.

May God bless our country, and May God bless you all.
