Meeting With the SDA National Leadership

Fellow citizens,

In our ongoing mission to engage with all Churches to discuss matters of mutual interest that impact our citizens, today we held a meeting with the SDA National leadership led by Dr. Tommy Susiku Namitondo, the President of the Northern Zambia Union Conference.

During our meeting, we emphasized our longstanding belief that the Government and the Church are not in competition, but rather compliment each other in serving the same people and collaborate in areas such as health, education, and social justice, while promoting values of equity, equality, and inclusiveness.

We urged the Church to continue playing a prominent role in fostering national unity, as we believe that this is crucial for our country's development. Furthermore, we encouraged them to instill Christian values in our youth from an early age, enabling them to understand the dangers of corruption and other crimes.

And corruption remains a detrimental force that deprives our people of vital resources. Our government is therefore fully committed to combating the vice regardless of ethnic, religious, or political affiliations.

Debt had also become a burdensome constraint on our nation, affecting our economy and impeding progress. Therefore, we expressed our gratitude to the Church for their support in our efforts towards debt restructuring. As a result, available resources to address other pressing issues that affect our citizens will be expanded, as a thriving economy is crucial for a well-functioning society.
