North-Western Students Back Hichilema for Continuity

Students across North-Western Province have declared their support for President Hakainde Hichilema ahead of the August General Election, crediting reforms that have widened access to education and strengthened learning opportunities.

National Council of Students Coordinator Onesmus Moonde said government policies had kept vulnerable learners in school and opened the way to tertiary education. The progress made in the sector, he said, justified continued backing for the current administration.

At Solwezi Trades Training Institute, Students' President Kennedy Chinfwano praised Constituency Development Fund (CDF) bursaries, which he said had changed the lives of vulnerable students by helping them enrol in tertiary institutions and acquire vocational and technical skills.

Solwezi College of Nursing and Midwifery Students' President Alexander Kasonde welcomed the ongoing recruitment of health workers, calling it clear proof of the government's determination to strengthen the healthcare system.

Obed Mandevu, Students' Representative at Solwezi College of Education, agreed, crediting free education and CDF bursaries with helping many learners move from secondary school into tertiary institutions.

National Council of Students Union (NACOSU) Chairperson Michelo Chizombe urged students across the province to defend the gains made in education, saying young people must lead in promoting and protecting the policies that have improved access to learning.

The students' message was united: the reforms have delivered real change, and continuity under the UPND will secure further progress for the next generation.
