HH Brings Development Message to Western Province
President Hakainde Hichilema brought his campaign tour to Western Province today, opening in Nkeyema District where crowds in red and yellow turned out to welcome him. He urged residents to back the United Party for National Development (UPND) at the August 13 General Election, saying the party had delivered on its development pledges and would achieve more once re-elected.
The President stressed the UPND's record on equitable development, pointing to policies that have reached every part of the country regardless of political affiliation or location. Western Province, he said, deserves the same standard of infrastructure and public services as every other region in Zambia.
He identified improved roads and a new international airport as key priorities for the province, measures he said would boost connectivity, spur economic growth and help the region realise its full potential.
Among the achievements recorded since 2021, the President cited free education and the rise in the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) from K1.6 million to K40 million per constituency this year. These reforms, he said, have widened opportunities for young people, women and small businesses.
He said the government's development programme reaches every region, with sustained investment planned across infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and economic empowerment.
The President called on Western Province to unite behind all UPND candidates on August 13 and appealed for peaceful, fair campaigning to protect a free and credible process.
Travelling on to Luampa District, he told residents that a vote for the UPND was a vote for peace, public service jobs and development, noting the employment already created for young people in the area.
He went on to greet crowds in Kaoma and Lukulu districts, saying continued support would allow the government to sustain flagship programmes including free education and expanded healthcare through new clinics and hospitals.
He encouraged residents to take an active part in mobilising voters in their homes, communities and workplaces ahead of polling day.
The President continues his Western Province tour tomorrow, 4 July, travelling to Mitete, Kalabo and Sikongo before a major rally in Mongu.
