President Hichilema Campaign Reaches Central Province

President Hakainde Hichilema took his campaign tour to Central Province today, opening in Kapiri Mposhi District where crowds greeted him with song, dance and waving flags. He praised residents for their part in the country's record five million tonnes of maize during the bumper 2025/2026 farming season.
Addressing a large rally at the TAZARA Grounds, the President said the UPND New Dawn Administration would keep supporting agriculture to strengthen food security and raise productivity.
He announced that the government would increase the number of fertiliser bags allocated to farmers as Zambia works towards producing 10 million tonnes of maize and 3 million tonnes of soya beans.
The President said the UPND would continue lowering fuel prices to ease the cost of living, noting that diesel had already fallen from K32 to K28, with further reforms expected as the economy improves.
He assured students in higher education that the government intends to build more student hostels to create a better learning environment, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.
Moving on to Kabwe District, the President was met by thousands who gave him a warm and enthusiastic welcome. He urged Zambians to protect the reforms achieved under the New Dawn Administration and to return the ruling party at the August 13 polls, stressing the importance of building on the progress of the past five years.
He said the reopening of the Zambia-China Mulungushi Textiles factory reflected the UPND's commitment to improving lives in Kabwe through job creation and industrial revival.
The President added that the New Dawn Administration had restructured Zambia's debt to restore an economy inherited in difficulty from the previous government.
He also pointed to the Free Education policy, now enshrined in law, as protection for future generations, adding that meal allowances had helped students in higher education focus on their studies.
The President closed the day's rallies in Chibombo District, Keembe East and Keembe West, where thousands turned out to welcome him. He thanked Chibombo residents for their contribution to the bumper maize harvest.
Tomorrow he continues his tour to the Copperbelt, visiting Kafulafuta and Mpongwe before a major rally in Kitwe.
