President Hichilema Closes Strong Central Province Campaign

President Hakainde Hichilema has wrapped up an energetic campaign sweep through Central Province, criss-crossing districts from Luano to Mumbwa with a single message: give the UPND a second term to keep the country's development on track.

Across every stop, the President paired gratitude with fresh promises. In Luano, he thanked residents and traditional leaders for their loyalty and pledged better roads, more schools and expanded health facilities. In Kapiri Mposhi West and the newly created Momboshi Constituency, he leaned on the enhanced Constituency Development Fund, promising investment in roads, clinics, water, agriculture and a new secondary school, while urging voters not to "lose direction" by returning leaders they rejected in 2021.

He did not shy away from hard realities. In Ngabwe, he acknowledged the rising cost of living but insisted his government was actively easing the burden, pointing to free education as a policy already freeing up family incomes for other needs.

The tour's closing leg carried a strong economic theme. In Katuba and Shibuyunji, the President committed to major road upgrades, a new district hospital, civil servant housing and sustained social support. In Nangoma, he reassured small-scale miners of licences and safer practices, promised gold-processing plants that avoid mercury, and pledged to tar the road to Senior Chief Shakumbila's palace, earning the chief's endorsement.

He saved notable news for Mumbwa, announcing the discovery of significant copper deposits and plans for a new mine, a skills-training centre for local jobs, hospital upgrades, a modern bus station and improved roads.

Throughout, the President struck a confident, forward-looking tone, insisting that by working together Zambia can reach even greater progress. He urged the people of Central Province to turn out in their numbers on 13 August and renew the UPND's mandate.
