HH Brings Development Drive to Muchinga

President Hakainde Hichilema has taken his campaign across Muchinga Province, using engagements in eight districts to set out his administration's development record and its plans for the years ahead, while urging residents to back continuity in the August 13 general elections.

Opening the tour in Lavushimanda, the President highlighted flagship programmes already in place, including Free Education, the School Feeding Programme, Social Cash Transfer, the Constituency Development Fund and Cash for Work. He committed to upgrading the Mpika-Serenje and Mpika-Chiundaponde roads to boost transport and trade. In Mpika he promised continued investment in urban, peri-urban and rural roads, and reaffirmed his pledge to keep markets and bus stations free from political violence. Engagements in Kanchibiya centred on expanding Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) and Social Cash Transfer coverage, while in Shiwang'andu the President spoke on peace, democracy and economic recovery, noting that his signing of Bill 7 into law would strengthen representation for women and young people in Parliament.

The second day carried the tour to Nakonde, where he said the new Mwenzo international airport and the One-Stop Border Post would create jobs, attract investment and improve connectivity, alongside pledges on water, communications and support for farmers. In Mafinga, an increased K80 million Constituency Development Fund allocation would be directed toward feeder roads to ease the movement of produce from a district central to Zambia's record maize harvest. Isoka was promised a major economic lift through a first-of-its-kind phosphate mine, upgraded roads and improved water infrastructure, with the President also directing that volunteer nurses be considered for recruitment.

Closing in Chinsali, President Hichilema pointed to Free Education and an expanded CDF as proof of delivery, pledging to continue driving development for all Zambians.
