From Lusaka to Muchinga: The President's Message of Progress Continues

President Hakainde Hichilema brought his message of development, unity and continued progress to the rural districts of Lusaka Province over the weekend, drawing thousands of supporters and pledging fresh infrastructure and jobs as the campaign builds momentum ahead of the August 13 General Election.

Addressing an energised crowd in Chilanga on Sunday, the President announced a new district hospital, skills training centres, roads and improved drainage for the area. He reminded residents how the Kalundu area was once plagued by political violence against opposition supporters, and reaffirmed that under the New Dawn administration, lawlessness has been firmly put to rest and has no place in Zambia's democracy.

In Shantumbu, Kafue East Constituency, the President pledged a boarding school, a modern market, additional Food Reserve Agency depots and improved access to clean water. Describing the area as one with the potential to grow into a major city, he called on residents to put their full weight behind UPND candidates at every level.

The President also confirmed plans for a dual carriageway from Lusaka to Kafue Bridge to ease congestion, with the Road Development Agency already directed to act, alongside a new vehicle assembly plant under the Multi-Facility Economic Zone in Kafue.

President Hichilema pointed to a strong record of delivery: free education now enshrined in law, reinstated meal allowances and restructured national debt. He reassured public service workers that their jobs are protected and urged citizens to reflect on how far Zambia has come since 2021 before casting their votes.

The campaign today now moves to Muchinga Province, where the President begins a two-day working visit tomorrow. He is scheduled to arrive in Chinsali at 10:00 hours before touring all eight districts of the province and holding community engagements with residents.

Tomorrow's itinerary takes him to Lavushimanda, Kanchibiya, Mpika and Shiwang'andu, with Wednesday's leg covering Nakonde, Isoka, Mafinga and Chinsali.

Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary Dr. Tuesday Bwalya has welcomed the visit, thanking the President for his commitment to improving the lives of the people of Muchinga and calling on residents to come out in numbers to give him a warm reception.
