President Hichilema Oversees Handover Of Kenneth Kaunda International Conference Centre

President Hichilema today attended the handover of the Kenneth Kaunda International Conference Centre to the government in Lusaka.

The new conference centre, which sits on the same site as the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, was constructed and funded with cooperation from the Government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). During his speech, the President thanked the Chinese Government for its assistance in constructing the conference centre, as well as for the PRC’s longstanding support to the Zambian people.

The People’s Republic of China is an important and valued partner to Zambia, and has been an all-weather friend to our country since the 1970s when they helped to construct the TAZARA Railway, as well as countless infrastructure projects to follow.

The New Dawn government is proud to uphold Zambia’s longstanding relationship with the PRC, with the Kenneth Kaunda International Conference Centre standing as one of many examples of how, when our two countries work together, we can make a big impact.

Getting stalled infrastructure projects back on track is an urgent priority for the New Dawn government and we look forward to working with our trusted Chinese partners to making this happen.

The government is grateful to the PRC for supporting Zambia’s debt restructuring endeavours, even agreeing to co-chair the IMF committee on Zambia’s debt restructuring.

As we work to further strengthen Zambia’s economy, we look forward to discussing how Chinese investors and businesses can support our efforts to ensure prosperity and mutual development.
