Zambia Reaches 70% Vaccination Target

Today we are proud to announce to the nation and the world that our joint efforts with other stakeholders have led to over 75% of our eligible citizens being fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Covid-19 pandemic ravaged our communities, exposed global inequalities and took away millions of our loved ones across the globe. In Zambia we lost 4,017 lives while the pandemic disrupted economic activity and overwhelmed our health care and education services.

We however fought back and in October 2021, the New Dawn Government re-launched the Covid 19 vaccination campaign that committed to reaching and vaccinating at least 70% of our eligible population.

We salute our partners for their support and sincerely thank our health providers and front line staff who put their lives on the line in order to check the Covid 19 pandemic. Most importantly we wish to thank our citizens who cooperated with the health authorities in order to reach this milestone.

Fellow citizens, Covid-19 has not been eradicated. So we need to continue taking necessary measures to avoid infection and most importantly let's continue being vaccinated.

We did it Zambia! As a member of the international League of Nations, we can say to the world at large, that our joint efforts have led to this landmark achievement.

Hakainde Hichilema,

President of the Republic of Zambia.
