President Hichilema Courts Scottish Investors
President Hakainde Hichilema has invited investors from Scotland to locate here, as the two countries’ ties continue deepening.
He said this when Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney and his delegation paid a courtesy call on him at State House today. President Hichilema invited Scottish businesses to invest in Zambia and wants continued support of the education agenda through scholarships and partnerships between Zambian and Scottish universities.
President Hichilema said Zambia and Scotland have long–standing ties, and their investment and contributions to scientific health research, as well as education and climate resilience, make them strong partners. “Our cooperation in the areas of education, research and development, exchange of technical knowhow, health is well appreciated. In simple terms, we can learn from each other and we can benefit from each other.
“We would also like to continue our collaboration around agriculture in the context of the negative effects of climate change,” said President Hichilema.
The President also talked about strides which Government is making in gender mainstreaming.
