President Hichilema consoles Kapala

President Hakainde Hichilema says the Kapala family needs support through prayers and God’s hand of warmth as they mourn one of them.

The President was speaking when he visited the home of mourning for Charity Kapala, the wife of Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Peter Kapala in Meanwood Ibex area in Lusaka today.

Mrs Kapala died on Thursday, December 18, 2025.

President Hichilema expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Kapala family on the loss of the minister’s dear wife.

“We also extend our condolences to the wider extended family, to the people of Chifunabuli, Luapula and to the people of Zambia. We mourn with the Kapala family on this tragic loss.

“We all know that God is the giver of life and He is the one who takes it away. How and when, we don’t know. Only He knows,” the President said.

President Hichilema asked the grieving family to accept, difficult as it may be, God’s decision.

“Our job now is to offer warmth and support to the children, minister Kapala and the family.

“Minister Kapala is now the father and mother of the children. So we can only ask God to place His hand of warmth and guidance on the bereaved family,” said President Hichilema, who also thanked all the mourners.

Several Cabinet ministers and other senior government officials accompanied President Hichilema.
