President HH Wraps Up North-Western Campaign Trail
President Hakainde Hichilema has concluded an intensive campaign tour of North-Western Province, crossing Mushindamo, Manyinga, Kalumbila, Ikelenge, Mufumbwe and Kasempa to rally support for the UPND ahead of the 13 August general election.
The tour paired thanks for the province's warm welcome with a clear development agenda. In Mushindamo, the President announced that Government had negotiated to bring farmers previously left out of farming blocks back into the fold, protecting their livelihoods and the country's food security. He pledged to establish the Mushindamo Boma, build district offices, staff houses and a district hospital, expand boarding facilities at Lamba Day School, and complete the Solwezi–Mushindamo–Kipushi Road. A new skills training centre would open, with young people accessing Constituency Development Fund sponsorships for vocational training, while volunteer nurses were assured recruitment begins next month.
In Ikelenge, the President committed to supporting pineapple production and a new public-private honey processing plant serving Ikelenge and Mwinilunga. He promised to upgrade Ikelenge General Hospital to district status and improve the Mwinilunga–Jimbe road under the Lobito Corridor.
At Mufumbwe, he said local people would be prioritised in mining at Kikonge Gold Mine, with Government facilitating safe small-scale mining through licences and equipment, and directed Kalengwa Mine to favour local workers and suppliers. He also pledged to upgrade Mufumbwe District Hospital, build a youth skills centre, and improve the M8 corridor.
Concluding in Kasempa, President Hichilema thanked residents for their support and reaffirmed Government's focus on jobs, agriculture, infrastructure, education and health.
Throughout, he urged Zambians to vote UPND on 13 August, saying a renewed mandate would allow Government to keep expanding youth employment, free education, social cash transfers and the Cash for Work programme, while protecting the peace.
