Boosting Green Copper: EU-Zambia Business Forum Highlights

We are delighted to have officiated at the EU-Zambia Business Forum in Kitwe this afternoon, under the theme "Growing the Copper Industry in Zambia through Green Value Chain."

It is with great pleasure that we reflect on this Forum, set against the backdrop of our address to the European Union Parliament in 2022, where we highlighted Zambia as an attractive destination for business.

The theme of the Business Forum aligns perfectly with our vision to expand Zambia's Copper Industry by adopting environmentally friendly practices and technologies across the entire value chain—from mining and processing to distribution.

We emphasized that the Business Forum gives priority to partnerships that offer fairly priced capital and the best available technology.

For too long, African economies have been undervalued, leading to prohibitively expensive capital. However, Zambia's stable democracy, which has seen peaceful transitions seven times over 60 years, underscores our credentials as an attractive investment destination.

Hakainde Hichilema,

President of the Republic of Zambia
