President Hichilema Pays Tribute to Dr. Mutumba Mainga Bull

President Hakainde Hichilema has urged Zambians to emulate the dedication and resilience demonstrated by the late Dr. Mutumba Mainga Bull.
Speaking during the requiem mass of the former Cabinet Minister, President Hichilema said Dr. Bull’s achievements were the result of her positive attitude and unwavering commitment. He noted that her life underscored the importance of raising children with strong values, even in the face of difficult circumstances.
The President praised Dr. Bull’s resilience, which enabled her to break barriers and achieve numerous firsts despite her humble beginnings. He expressed gratitude to the Sefula community in Mongu District, where she grew up, and to the institutions that supported her journey, enabling her to excel and contribute significantly to national development.
Dr. Bull, who passed away in Lusaka on February 13, 2026, at the age of 88, was Zambia’s first female Cabinet Minister and the first woman in the country to earn a PhD.
Delivering her life history, Electoral Commission of Zambia Chairperson Mwangala Zaloumis described Dr. Bull as deeply passionate about service, with a legacy of achievements that continues to inspire and awaits full documentation.
University of Zambia Vice Chancellor Mundia Muya also commended Dr. Bull for her academic distinction and leadership, highlighting her authorship of more than 50 books, journal articles, and scholarly papers.
