First Results Update

First Official Results Announced

The Electoral Commission of Zambia has announced the presidential results for the first four constituencies, of 226 nationwide. The Commission said it is seeing an increase in the number of results received, and will issue a notice at around 09:00 this morning indicating the timing of its next results announcement.

The declared results are as follows.

Dongwe, Mufumbwe District, North Western Province

Hakainde Hichilema (UPND): 6,848 (94.12%)

Brian Mundubile (NRPUP): 143 (1.97%)

Registered voters: 13,221 | Total votes cast:: 7,275 | Turnout: 55.03%

Feira, Luangwa District, Lusaka Province

Brian Mundubile (NRPUP): 7,885 (59.39%)

Hakainde Hichilema (UPND): 4,900 (36.91%)

Registered voters: 19,523 | Total votes cast: 13,275 | Turnout: 68.00%

Kundabwika, Kaputa District, Northern Province

Hakainde Hichilema (UPND): 4,160 (55.10%)

Brian Mundubile (NRPUP): 3,180 (42.12%)

Registered voters: 10,796 | Total votes cast: 7,549 | Turnout: 69.92%

Chisamba, Chisamba District, Central Province

Hakainde Hichilema (UPND): 6,568 (64.89%) Brian Mundubile (NRPUP): 3,180 (31.42%)

Registered voters: 22,347 | Total votes cast: 10,121 | Turnout: 45.29%

Brian Mundubile (NRPUP): 14,388 (37.6%)

These are the official results as declared by the ECZ, with 222 constituencies still to be announced. Official results are only those announced by the Commission, and we would encourage continued caution around any unverified figures circulating ahead of further announcements.
