HH Hosts German President Dr. Frank Walter Steinmeier at State House

Honoured and privileged to host His Excellency Dr. Frank Walter Steinmeier, the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, and his delegation at State House this afternoon.

Germany and Zambia share common values, in democracy, the rule of law, and respect for human rights. Our relationship dates back to our independence in 1964, and we greatly appreciate that it has strengthened over the years.

We are particularly thankful to the Federal Republic of Germany and the European Union for their invaluable support in the debt restructuring process and their assistance in the Lobito Corridor project, which connects three neighbouring countries. This project will facilitate the easy movement of goods and passengers between Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Angola.

Aligned with our Foreign Policy, which is built on two pillars – Economic Diplomacy on one hand, and Peace, Stability, and Security on the other – we will continue to engage and collaborate with the Federal Republic of Germany on various economic initiatives that will create jobs and business opportunities for our people, especially in the areas of Energy, Agriculture, Water and Sanitation and related technologies

Hakainde Hichilema,

President of the Republic of Zambia.
